I wanted to share an example of how I turned one simple task into more work from a client. I try to do this as often as possible to generate more ongoing work for me from each client I provide my Virtual Assistant services to.
The original task
Find an anchored wall mount for monitor
My email containing pro-active suggestions following completion of task:
As I know you're trialling Time, etc. (Welcome, by the way!!), I'd love to take a moment to message you and let you know what else I could offer to you or your business with regards to this task, or possibly other tasks in the future!
For example, for further work on this task, I could:
1. Buy the mount and arrange for the it to be delivered to an address of your choosing.
2. Ensure this is done within a time period and budget that you're happy with.
3. Arrange installation of the mount at a property and position of your choosing.
4. Were you to desire a different mount, or something at a different budget level, you could provide further detail to me and I could investigate the matter and come back to you with more options.
Regarding work in the future:
The sky is truly the limit here. As I'm not sure what your business is, and thus what your particular needs are, I will give some broad examples that could cover a variety of options.
1. Perhaps you've just bought this monitor, and you need more items to accompany it. I would be happy to help you track down these items (eg, sound system, smart remote, dvd or blu ray player) and even make suggestions and help you further kit out your setup.
2. Maybe you need some more personal assistance from day to day. Things like booking a flight, restaurant, hotel, cab, or even sending a special note and flowers to a loved one. All within the budget of your specification, complimented by my ability to track down the best deals for you!
3. I could order groceries online for you - and have them delivered straight to your door!
4. Field calls for you or your business, so you don't have to return calls personally that aren't important (I can!), or can make sure you return the calls that are important!
The above examples are truly just a few of the MANY things that I could do for you via Time etc. I make it my business to listen to your needs and expectations, and deliver at least that - but really aiming to go above and beyond every single time.
