We know that clarity around the fees you can earn as a freelance Virtual Assistant is important - and earning more from your work is one key part of feeling valued. That’s why we created Fair Fees For Everyone.

A fair minimum fee
All Virtual Assistants agree to charge us $11 USD for working with US clients or £11 UK Pounds for working with UK Client per hour for their services.  We created this ‘guaranteed’ fee because we were determined to help end the race to the bottom we saw on other marketplaces - with people bidding lower and lower fees just to win jobs - 50% of Virtual Assistants offering their services on Upwork earn fees that equate to less than $/£11.

Increasing your fees

When you’ve worked with the same client for at least eight months you can apply for agreement to increase your fee to $/£12 per hour. In addition once you’ve worked with the same client for 18-months you can apply for a further agreement to increase to $/£13 per hour. To apply for our agreement to a fee increase please send us a message.

If you have provided at least 25 hours of support to a single client for at least three months then we’ll automatically agree that you can increase your fee covering your work for that client. You can view more information about that here.

Transparent economics
The fee that you charge us for your services represents between 42% and 80% of the fee paid by our client - the difference is used to pay for payment processing costs, finding clients through advertising, the cost of our client and assistant support team, our money back guarantee, developing our technology platform, office costs and hosting costs - after these costs are taken care of we make a profit on each hour sold through Time etc.

Hardship fund

In 2016 Time etc was the first Virtual Assistant company to establish a hardship fund to help cover our Virtual Assistants who are impacted by natural disaster, serious or life-threatening illness or injury or serious illness, injury or death of a child.  We make non-repayable grants of $500/£400 available to assist those in need.
