This is your opportunity to find out more about the client and the type of help they need.

Here are some ideas to keep in mind for the phone call:

  • What kind of business or project does the client need help with?
  • What kind of tasks you are likely to expect?
  • Any preference the client has about when and how work is completed?
  • How the client prefers to communicate?
  • Information and log in details to systems (including calendars) that the client needs you to access?

Based on our experience, we also recommend considering mentioning these points:

  • All the areas of work you can help the client with
  • A little bit about yourself so the client knows when it is best to contact you and why sometimes your communication may be slower (e.g. picking kids from school)

We recommend sending a summary of your call to your client after the call - this can help maximise your success with the client.
